Mike McKenna grew up in Aurora Colorado as a multi-sport athlete who began playing lacrosse in his junior year, the inaugural season for Hinkley High School. He was a team captain and Colorado all-star his senior year. Mike played his collegiate lacrosse at Colorado State University. Post college he played for South Bay Lacrosse Club in Orange County California. After moving to Kansas City he played several years for 4winds Lacrosse Club. As a US lacrosse level 2 certified coach Mike has enjoyed 7 years of coaching; youth lacrosse (7 yrs) and Blue Valley High School (2 yrs). He served as the treasurer on the KCYLL board 2014-2016. Mike is married to Staci and has three children Josie, Garin and Brennan. As an owner at Affinis Corp he specializes in Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Paul Florack grew up in Rochester, NY in the town of Irondequoit where a lacrosse cage was permanently cemented in his next door neighbor’s back yard. His first coach in middle school was a pioneer of high school lacrosse in NY, having started one of the first public school programs at Irondequoit in 1957 because he wanted his football players to play a spring sport that provided better off-season conditioning and physicality. Paul played defense for western NY powerhouse Irondequoit High School and collegiately at Potsdam College where he started as a Freshman. He has met the requirements for Level 2 US Lacrosse coaching certification and has seven years of lacrosse coaching experience, including five with KCYLL (2 championships) and two at the high school level for Blue Valley Tigers. Paul lives in Leawood, KS with his wife Elaine and three children. When not coaching lacrosse, Paul is Vice President of Product Management Telecom Services Division at Transaction Network Services.
Steve Freimanis grew up in Columbia, a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland. He started playing lacrosse in the third grade and was active in youth leagues year-round, involving both the field and indoor versions of the sport. Over the years, Steve attended several summer instructional camps at the University of Maryland and Cornell. While in high school, he played as a varsity attackman for four years and was the team captain in his junior and senior years. After high school, Steve attended and graduated from the University of Maryland, where he played rugby for the school. He currently lives in Overland Park, KS with his wife, Jennifer, and three children Hans, Sophia, and Amelia. Steve is proud to be a in his sixth year as a coach for a Blue Valley Lacrosse Program and has met all the requirements for a Level 1 certified US Lacrosse Coach.
